Abstract

This project will yield a Diplomacy based ruleset for the Thousand Parsec server. Give current and future games the ability to implement messaging between/during turns and improve the existing MiniSec and MTSec rulesets.

Project Goals

Give current and future games the ability to implement messaging between/during turns and

improve the existing MiniSec and MTSec rulesets.

Bonus goals include investigating ways to display messages in the clients (popups/chat windows/Gmail like interface) and transfering the information/explaination into the Ruleset Development Handbook

Timeline

Learning rulesets

  • May 24 - 30: Address the messages generated by the MiniSec ruleset and visibilty issues in the MTSec ruleset.
  • May 31 - June 4: Ruleset stubs will be complete

Messaging

  • June 7 - 11: Investigate how to implement messaging in the server.
  • June 14 - 18: Begin implementing Diplomacy
  • June 21 - 25: Messaging will be implemented

Diplomacy

  • June 27 - July 2: Map/territories will be set
  • July 5 - 9: Units will be able to be placed/destroied as per rules
  • July 12 - 16: Implementing gametypes for fewer than 7 players
  • July 19 - 23: Fewer than 7 people will be able to play TPDiplomacy

Buffer/Bonus time

  • July 26 - August 16: Buffer and documentation time


About Me

I'm a Computer Science sophomore at Michigan State University. This would be my first open source programming project but I'm excited to get to code projects that aren't for a class.
